On February 5,2010 around 3pm. The snow storm of 2010 began. For one week the Blaine Hill Volunteer Fire Company responded to a total of 75 incidents ranging from wires down to welfare checks and smoke investigations and carbon monoxide incidents. Power was out to various residents for 3-4 days in frigid temperatures. Warming Centers were open at Elizabeth Forward High School, Central Volunteer Fire Company and the lone warming center for pets was at Blaine Hill Volunteer Fire Company. Thanks to the endless efforts of volunteer firefighters through out the area, losses were kept to a minimum. The man hours for our station alone totalled into the thousands. Most roads were closed in the area making travelling impossible. But with the volunteer firefighters on foot, with quads and other means of transportation, all requestes for assistance were honored. The Emergency Operations Center headed by Damien Michaels was put to the test for almost one full week and passed with flying colors. Outside agencies including the American Red Cross were utlized during the disaster. The pictures posted are of major roads such as Lovedale Road, Mill Hill Road, PA Route 48, Weigels Hill Road and Happy Hollow Road from Saturday February 6,2010.
