History

In 1932, several local men decided there was a need to protect the community from the loss caused by fire. Since the Company was founded, we have grown from housing a fire truck in a member's garage, to our present garage, social hall, ballfield, and pavilion. In the mid 1950's we bought our very first NEW Ford fire truck.  It was used until 1970 at which time we put a new Mack CF pumper into service.

In 1976, the fire company suffered a major set back.  A fire had completely destroyed our garage and everything inside including our 6 year old Mack pumper, 1974 Cadillac custom ambulance,  1972 Dodge emergency van,  and all turnout gear and equipment.

The total loss was around $250,000.  The rebuilding of the firehouse and replacement of the vehicles greatly exceeded the insurance coverage After the fire, there was assistance given from other local fire companies who loaned us pumpers, ambulances, and turnout gear.  We are still in the same station that was built after the fire in 1976.

We now have a 1996 E-One Cyclone pumper, a 1971 Mack CF Pumper, a 1984 E-One air/light truck, a 2002 Ford F-350 squad truck, and a 2006 16' Wells Cargo Decon Trailer,We are curently refurbishing a 1988 Cris Craft 17 ft. water craft for river rescues, and we are currently Working on a 2008 Air/Light unit. Unfortunately we no longer provide ambulance services to our community.  In 1990, the Elizabeth Twp. Area Emergency Medical Service took over handling all medical calls for Elizabeth Twp.  We still assist at times on ambulance calls when we are needed.
